Refinishing Stainless Steel Trim   Written By: ProStreetDriver (MTR)

Tools/Materials Needed:

-scotch bright
-painter's tape
-soft cloth
-metal polish (Eagle One Original Mag & Aluminum Wheel Polish)

Before:

Most of the protective coating that was on the stainless steel moulding was worm off. There was a little protective coating left on and was very easy to peal off. As you can see in the photo below, the stainless steel moulding has discolored and is no longer polished.

Materials that I used:

First tape off the areas adjacent to the stainless steel moulding such as the weather stripping and door panel. Remove the door lock pulls if desired. If so, simply unscrew them. Now use the scotch bright to buff the stainless steel trim. Buff the trim in a linear motion.

Once it is polished to your satisfaction, you can now move onto the polishing compound. I would recommend Eagle One Original Mag & Aluminum Wheel Polish. Using a soft cloth, apply a little paste to the cloth and then rub the trim. Eagle One paste is white, but once you start polished the metal trim, it will turn black. Be very careful with the polish because it can be messy. Polish until satisfied.
